- The 10 and 12mm widths are primarily used for jib and main battens for Dinghy’s and smaller One Design classes.
- The 15mm width battens are used in beach catamarans smaller cruising mains and jibs.
- Our 19 and 25mm width battens are used for both compression and leech battens in mains and jibs for larger boats 30 feet and over.
Batten Codes
E15300 E (E-Glass) 15 (width in mm) .300 (thickness in inches)
CB15300 CB (Carbon Bar) 15 (width in mm) .300 (thickness in inches)
An example of an order code may look like this: E19230/100F (E–19–230 / 100–F)
- The code will always start off with either an E or a CB which stands for either E-Glass or Carbon Bar.
- The next 2 numbers represent the width of the batten in millimeters (10mm, 15mm, 19mm, etc).
- The 3 following numbers will always stand for the thickness in inches (.160“, .230“, .350“, etc).
- The next measurement needed is order length. We use centimeters for ease and more precise pricing (/100, /240, /360, etc).
- Finally, we need to know which kind of taper to build into the batten’s profile depicted by an F (flex/leech batten), C (compression/full batten), R (reverse compression for a flat, full entry) or NT (in the event that a non-tapered piece is desired)
